My Least Favorite Sight Ever
I learned several things this past week during my adventure at Children's Hospital, but one sticks out strongly in my mind...
The WORST sight in the world has got to be: the sight of your helpless child, looking confused as he is rolled on a crib-style stretcher into an operating room while you wait behind at the "double doors."
In case you missed it, here's the scoop on our 48 hours at Childrens...
We “ran up” to the pediatrician on Thursday because a little spot on Logan’s leg had gotten puffy & he had a fever and my pediatrician’s partner wanted to take a look (my dr. had left town-naturally!) - - - two hours later were in the ER at Children’s!
We got admitted Thurs. evening (after starving him all day in case they had to sedate him for the procedure that night). After a lovely night of being woken up every 2-4 hours for one thing or another, at 9:00 am on Fri. they told us to stop feeding him because they were going to have to sedate him for the procedure-supposedly at 3:00 pm.
Yes-you know what that means-in hospital time actually 7:00pm! He was starving but really was a trooper! I was actually quite thankful that our procedure was minor enough that it could be bumped by other more serious cases. He only managed to pull out his IV once, which was amazing considering he was constantly pulling at EVERY wire, cord, or device that was put in reaching distance. You just can’t reason with a 10 month old too well!!
All said and done, he had an abcess & a skin infection in his groin area and it had to be surgically opened up & drained.
We came home Saturday and now he has a little tube to drain it that will stay in for a week until we go to the dr. next week so he can remove it. That ought to be fun to remove! Yikes!

Not my favorite week of all time for sure. But as you can see, we are truly blessed with a little trooper who managed to be cute through it all!
The Hospital Cage...I mean Crib
Clearly this is the last day, after being FED and after his surgery was OVER!
Every hospital stay is better with your "lovey!"
It's not THAT high...I could probably jump & get outta here!!
The diaper on his hand is to cover his IV so he won't pull it out. They have some great tricks there!
They brought him baby food, as they do most 10 month olds. And then I would proceed to order him REAL food.
He ate pancakes, chicken, veggies, mac & cheese, pudding, etc! Pretty much everything put within reach!
Almost time to get out of here!!!!! We're really smiling now!!

Having watched our son wheeled into operating rooms many times in the past 4 years or so, I know how you feel. I hope Logan is doing well and feeling much better. (PS...the tube coming out IS NOT fun.)
